Nilab “Nelo” Sharif
Nelo received her Juris Doctor degree from Southwestern University School of Law in
2003. She is a licensed attorney in the State of California and earned her Bachelor of
Science degree, graduating cum laude, from the University of California, Irvine.
Nelo has practiced law in both the public and private sectors, with experience in family
law and special education law. She is passionate about advocating for individuals and
families, particularly those who may not be able to advocate for themselves.
While serving as Deputy Department Counsel for the Department of Child Support
Services, Nelo handled numerous child support, contempt, and paternity hearings. She
has also completed the mediation program at Edwards Mediation Academy and has
assisted numerous families in reaching agreements in matters involving child support.
After learning about California churches challenging COVID-19 restrictions in court,
Nelo was drawn to PJI’s mission. She feels blessed to have the opportunity to be part of
PJI’s efforts to defend religious freedom and parental rights.
